With the help of small microchips that are embedded under the skin of a person, you can do a bunch of every day and familiar things for all: transfer health data to medical centers, pay by non-cash method, manage your smart home, and much more. Some people dream of early chipping in order to make their life easier as much as possible, while others are afraid of this process like fire, because with the help of chips you can control every step of a person. One way or another, this procedure, which will appear in the near future, will not leave anyone indifferent.
Advantages and disadvantages of chipping
For some time now, there have been discussions about chipping, where each side is trying to focus on the pros and cons of chipping. People are actively discussing the possibility of accurately tracking the location of parcels and their pets using microchips.
And you can't argue, there are really many advantages of such a procedure, because after you receive your microchip, you can perform various actions without wasting a lot of unnecessary and important time. So it will be possible to quickly call an ambulance, and doctors will instantly receive all the necessary information about the blood group, possible allergic reactions, the presence of a medical insurance policy, and so on. In the future, it will be possible to obtain the most accurate data on the state of the body in real time. Thus, chipping people will be able to raise medicine several levels up.
In addition, already at the moment it is possible to test the current capabilities of such microchips, because such an implementation is already practiced in the world. The presence of the chip makes it possible to pay for travel in transport and purchases in stores, regulate the closing and opening of doors in a smart home or office, carry discount loyalty cards and manage a bank account. And, it would seem, everything sounds pretty attractive, so why should some be afraid of it?
Skeptics point out the following negative aspects of chipping: this technology casts doubt on the confidentiality of the carrier's data and poses a threat to human security. Hackers keep up with technology, so we can confidently say that we will definitely not forget about them. You can hack a person's chip and gain access to his social media accounts, mail, bank accounts. Also, one cannot fail to mention the probable surveillance of the user, because with such a unit it will be possible to find out with an accuracy of centimeters where the carrier is.

Is it ethical to chip people?
The question of ethics very often arises in certain situations. Since 2018, people have begun to be massively microchipped in Sweden, naturally with their consent. The media report that today in Sweden, about one thousand citizens have implanted microchips.

A startup from the Belgian company Epicenter is practically the only place where chipping of people is literally put on stream. Each employee of the corporation can use such microchips to start the printer, open the door and pay for meals, just a wave of the hand is enough for this. Interestingly, the CEO and part-time founder of Epicenter decided to set an example for his employees through personal experience, and implanted a microcircuit in his hand. He says that such a device is extremely convenient, because it can replace many familiar things, from keys to bank cards.
In general, chipping is not the latest technology that has not been used anywhere before, because we have already met it. For example, pet owners often use such chips to track the location of their pets in real time. Such a system is also used in tracking parcels and baggage. The Belgians at Epicenter want to prove from their own experience that this technology is safe, convenient and beneficial to use. However, there is still an ethical issue as corporations can constantly monitor when employees come and leave the workplace, where they are and what they are doing. That is, no one canceled total surveillance, because after the microcircuit is located in the skin, it cannot be removed easily.
Epicenter works with hundreds of corporations with more than three thousand employees. Those who voluntarily agreed to the introduction of the chip did not regret their decision. Epicenter chips use NFC technology, which many people know as contactless payment. Simply put, this technology makes it possible to exchange data between two devices that are located as close to each other as possible.
How people are chipped
The microchip implantation process will take several seconds, the user may not even feel pain, and after the procedure there will be no scars or other visible traces. The technician will insert the microcircuit into the palm between the thumb and forefinger using a syringe. This technology does not need electricity, since it works passively, like the contactless payment module, which are inside bank cards.
At the moment, there are not many people on the planet with a chip, so hackers are not particularly interested in hacking them. However, interest may grow when such a procedure becomes commonplace for people. After all, the more technology spreads, the greater the likelihood of data leaks and hacks. But do not worry ahead of time, because now hackers are interested in hacking computers and smartphones, as almost everyone has them. At this stage in the development of chip technology, it is better to take care of the safe use of computers and phones.
However, if now it is clearly not worth worrying about data privacy, since chipping is safe, then in the future hackers will begin to actively look for weak points of this technology. Then the found vulnerabilities will be used against the carriers according to the old scheme.
That is why even now lawyers and human rights activists are worried about possible corporate surveillance of workers and chip carriers. Therefore, the states of Tennessee, Nevada, New Jersey and Arkansas are developing laws that should regulate the implantation of microchips in people.
Fans of new technologies are confident that humanity must focus on the positive aspects of using chip technology, and not fight fictitious threats. And there is some truth in this, because the chip will enable people with disabilities to do everyday things, such as opening doors, recording a message or paying for something. The military can find kidnapped colleagues. Therefore, it is important to overcome the fear of fictitious dangers from employer companies and focus on the things that really matter. Fear always has big eyes, but it's up to you to decide whether you need a chip or not.
