Vulnerability found in AirDrop function

What flaws did AirDrop find? Using AirDrop and what users should know about it

Anastasia Perekupko

Researchers at the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt have discovered a vulnerability in the AirDrop personal data exchange protocol. What is AirDrop? With AirDrop for easy monitoring of personal data, only iOS and macOS software allows users to send music and photos.

Employees of the Darmstadt University of Technology not only discovered the vulnerability of the data exchange function, but also offered an effective solution to troubleshoot the problem. Given the fact that Apple has not yet introduced a new protocol or its update to block confidential data leakage, the personal data of more than 1.5 billion users of Apple devices remains unprotected.
