The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released the Global Energy Review, which discloses information on changes in CO2 emissions during the quarantine period due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the period after the pandemic.
Energy consumption growth
According to the IEA survey, presented in April 2021, the volume of global CO2 emissions will decrease by 5.8% when compared to the same indicator in 2020. To be more precise, emissions have been reduced by 2 C CO2. Even in 2009, when there was a significant drop in CO2 due to the global financial crisis, the species volume was 5 times larger than during the COVID-19 pandemic.
