Quick replacement of a broken screen in iPhone 7
So, to replace the glass of the iPhone 7 display while maintaining the original matrix, first you need to separate the display module from the case, unscrew the two lower screws and heat the iPhone 7 on the separator to 70 degrees. Since there is a special adhesive between the display module and the case, which protects the iPhone 7 from moisture and dust, and to make it easier for us to open the iPhone 7, we heat the phone. After the phone is warmed up, with the help of a suction cup, which is attached to the glass of the screen, pull the ring upwards and raises the display, place a plastic pick into the gap formed between the display module and the body and carefully open the iPhone 7 to the right side. Next, using a Y-type screwdriver, unscrew the protective cover and disconnect the battery, after which we unscrew the two screws with a standard Phillips screwdriver that hold the protective plaque of the front camera cable.
After the two protective covers are removed, the board is de-energized, we disconnect the display module cables from the motherboard. The next step is to remove all mounted sensors from the screen and the Touch-id button. In order not to damage anything during these manipulations, it is advisable to warm up the display module again and only then remove the attachment and the Home button. If the screen is severely damaged, then it is necessary to apply adhesive tape to the glass so that the fragments do not damage the matrix when the screen is cut.
We place the display module on the separator, on which we set the temperature to 80 degrees, warm up and turn on the vacuum mode in order to fix the display module on the separator. First, we need to separate the frame from the glass, we do this with the help of a soldering iron with a special "blade" nozzle, with the help of it we make two cuts, above and below the frame, after which we separate the frame from the glass. Further, in order to separate the display matrix from the glass, we use a special string with a thickness of only 0.06mm. Starting from the upper corner, preferably from where the damage is small or absent, we put a vein there and with smooth movements, pressing the fishing line to the glass, separate the matrix from the glass. If the glass has been badly damaged, then during the cut there is a possibility of damage to the polarizing layer. A polarizer is a special layer on the matrix that allows the human eye to distinguish colors on the display, without this layer you will not see pictures on the display, your display will be just white. If all is well with the polarizer, then there is no need to replace it. So, after the matrix is separated from the glass, residues of OCA glue remain. It must be removed, this is done with microfiber and isopropyl alcohol. OCA (Optical Clear Adhesive) is used to attach the matrix to the glass. There are two types of such glue, liquid and film. If the polarizer is nevertheless damaged, then a new layer must be applied, for this a special device is used. With the help of a compressor, the matrix and polarizer are fixed on different parts of the device, after which these parts are superimposed on each other so that when superimposed, the polarizer layer is exactly in place. After the polarizing layer is applied, we carry out all the same actions with the OCA film. After all these processes, it remains only to attach a new glass to the matrix. To perform this process, special forms are used where we first insert a matrix, and above it we place a new glass, fasten them carefully in one place, so that the glass is fixed, we put it on a special stand and place it in a press.
In the press, first of all, a vacuum is created so that no air bubbles remain between the glass and the die during pressing. Using a press, the glass is glued to the matrix along the entire perimeter and connected to the matrix. After pressing, residual air may still remain in the form of bubbles between the die and the glass. In order to get rid of, we place the display module in a special chamber, where pressure is created and in a few minutes the module will be ready. It is imperative that before assembling the phone, you need to test the re-glued display module for color matching and the correct operation of the sensor. At the final stage, we install back the front camera cable and the Home button. This completes the re-gluing of the screen into the iPhone 7 and the screen is handed over to the client.
How to protect the iPhone 7 screen from damage?
In order to protect the most vulnerable part of your iPhone 7, the screen, from shattering and scratching, there are several options.
Screen protectors and screen protectors - Using a screen protector will only help you protect your screen from scratches, but if you want to protect your display module securely, then the best option is to use a screen protector that is applied around the perimeter of the entire display. Of course, such glass costs a little more than ordinary glass, but such glass is more reliable and can even withstand several drops and will definitely protect your screen from cracks.
Also, another option for protecting your iPhone 7 is a protective case, currently there are cases on sale that consist of two parts, a bottom and a top cover, such a case will help to keep your case and display intact, but, as a rule, such cases are not too easy to use.
