iPhone 6 Screen Glass Replacement Guide
If your iPhone Six's touchscreen isn't working well, a quality touchscreen replacement can fix any issues with your smartphone. It is worth noting that glass plywood on the iPhone 6 is a technically more difficult repair, but, firstly, it is cheaper in price, and secondly, you retain the original matrix in the iPhone 6. That is, for a little money you will keep your original screen and, in fact, the only spare part that is replaced is glass with a frame.
During the repair process, the display module is removed, and the repair operation is performed directly on this module. After all, attachments have been removed from the module, the module is sent to the separator, where it heats up to 80 degrees. The module is heated so that the glue between the broken glass and the matrix loses its properties and becomes softer. After that, you can separate the glass from the matrix. Further, the display frame is removed from the heated module. First, the frame is cut in several places, this is done using a soldering iron with a nozzle, and then the frame is separated from the glass.
After the frame is detached, there may be some remnants of the glass or glue to which it was attached in the place where it was glued. All these residues must be cleaned so as not to damage the matrix during cutting. Next, we take the fishing line (string) and with smooth movements starting from which angle, preferably from where the damage to the glass is the smallest or not at all, we separate the glass from the matrix.
All this time, the display is on the heated separator. So, when the glass is separated from the matrix, the old glue remains on the matrix after cutting. It must be removed from the display using a solvent and microfiber cloth. Be very careful during this process as the solvent can get under the display and damage the backlight.
If the glass has been badly damaged, then during cutting, glass particles often damage the polarizer layer. A polarizer is an integral part of any LCD display that distributes light so that the human eye can distinguish colors on the screen. Without a polarizer, you won't be able to see images on the LCD, as the screen will just shine brightly white. In order to apply a new layer of a polarizer, a special device is used, with the help of which it is possible to apply a layer of the polarizer on the iPhone 6 display quite accurately and without bubbles.
With the help of a compressor, the rotating and display are fixed on different sides of the device and then the sides are brought together so that when erected, the polarizer is exactly in the right place. It is also possible for dust to enter during gluing, but this already depends on the cleanliness of the room where the repair is being carried out.
The same process is for applying a new adhesive called OCA (Optical Clear Adhesive). There are two types of such glue, in liquid or in the form of a film. Liquid glue is used less because it has inferior tack and distribution is very difficult to control. If you apply more glue than needed, it can damage the backlight. But working with film is a little more difficult. The OCA film is applied using the same device as for the polarizer layer.
After all these processes, all that remains is to attach a new glass and frame to the iPhone 6. In order to glue the glass exactly where it should be, use a special form. A display is placed in one form, and glass in another, before that the protective film is removed from the adhesive layer.
Two molds, which are one above the other, are placed in a special vacuum chamber with a press. Here, first, a vacuum is created so that bubbles do not form between the glass and the matrix, and then the press presses on the glass of the iPhone Six along the entire perimeter, and the two forms with the glass and the matrix are connected.
Having received the module from the press, some air remains in the form of bubbles that may remain between the glass and the matrix, which can be easily removed by placing the module in a special chamber where pressure is created and after a few minutes, the module is ready. After that, the module is tested, the image quality and the sensor are tested. At the final stage, all attachments are installed back. This completes the module repair. Now the touchscreen, which previously worked poorly on the iPhone 6, will perform its functions flawlessly.
How to protect the glass of the iPhone 6 screen?
The screen is the most vulnerable part of any smartphone - it can be scratched or broken, so so that you do not have to replace the iPhone 6 touch glass again in the future, we recommend using the following protection methods.
The protective film and protective glass: when using a protective film, you can protect the screen of your smartphone only from scratches, but in order for your screen to be complete as long as possible, it is advisable to use a protective glass that covers the screen over its entire area. This glass is a little more expensive than regular glass, but it can even withstand a few drops and keep your iPhone 6 screen from breaking.
Case: currently there is a fairly large selection of accessories of this type on the market. Therefore, you need to choose a cover according to your lifestyle. There are even cases on sale with a front cover that protect your screen well, but this is not the only option. You can also find a case that sticks out higher around the screen, but such a case will not prevent the screen from falling off. There are also quite bulky cases that protect against drops and glass breakage, but such cases are usually not very comfortable.
